Tamsin R. Kaplan, Esq., Principal

Tamsin R. Kaplan, principal of Tamsin R. Kaplan & Associates, P.C., concentrates her practice in employment and business law and litigation. She represents corporations and individuals in discrimination, harassment, breach of contract, non-compete and other employment related and business law matters in state and federal courts and in government agencies

Ms. Kaplan counsels employers in handling employment related issues and in creating and implementing personnel policies to assure compliance with applicable law and reduce the risk of legal claims. She also provides workplace trainings on diversity, harassment and other topics.

Ms. Kaplan frequently counsels executives and high level professionals in non-litigation matters including negotiation of employment contracts and severance agreements.

Ms. Kaplan has co-authored articles on such topics as workplace discrimination, sexual harassment and mediation of employment disputes. She has presented employment law seminars to lawyers, business owners, human resource directors and school administrators in Massachusetts, and to mediators at the U. S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Ms. Kaplan has served as a mediator in Massachusetts District Courts and the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

Ms. Kaplan is admitted to practice in all Massachusetts Courts and in the U.S. District Court, U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Cour

A former Law Clerk and Regional Administrative Law Clerk for the Massachusetts Superior Court, Ms. Kaplan practiced as a civil litigator in the law firm of Wadland & Associates and was Of Counsel with the firm of Attardo & Miller, LLC before she formed her own law firm in 1999.   Also, she is a former Director of Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts.  Prior to entering law school, Ms. Kaplan was an organizational development consultant for cultural institutions including museums and performing arts companies. Ms. Kaplan holds a B.A., magna cum laude, from Tufts University and earned her J.D., cum laude, from Boston College Law School.


Marjorie F. Wittner, Esq., Of Counsel

Marjorie F. Wittner is an experienced labor and employment lawer.   She started her career in labor relations as a field examiner at the National Labor Relations Board. After receiving her law degree in 1989, Ms. Wittner was Assistant Labor Counsel at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.  She worked as an attorney in private practice from 1992-2001, concentrating in labor and employment law, representing both individuals and employers.  From 2001-2007, Ms. Wittner worked for the Massachusetts Labor Relations Commission as a hearing officer and Chief Counsel.  As Chief Counsel, Ms. Wittner briefed and argued numerous cases before the Appeals Court and the Supreme Judicial Court.

Ms. Wittner has co-authored articles on topics ranging from sexual harassment from the plaintiff’s perspective to arbitration of employment law claims.  She has been a panelist at various labor and employment seminars and is a trained mediator and labor arbitrator.

Ms. Wittner is a cum laude graduate of Brandeis University. She also earned a Masters degree in Labor Relations from Cornell University and a J.D. from New York University.  She is a member of both the New York and Massachusetts bars and is admitted to practice before all Massachusetts courts, including the U.S. District Court and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.

Lisa J. Bernt, Esq., Of Counsel

Formerly Commission Counsel with the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination, Ms. Bernt is a Visiting Scholar at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. Ms. Bernt practices in the areas of employment law counseling and litigation. She previously practiced law in New Jersey and Michigan
